MARINE STEWARDS
SYDNEY AND NEW ZEALAND UNIONS
END OF RECIPROCITY ARRANGEMENT
Sydney, January 20. The reciprocity arrangement between • the Svdnev branch of the Marine Stew- ' ards’ Union and the New Zealand Cooks and Stewards’ Union terminated following the refusal of the New Zealand Union to allow members of the Sydney Union on the steamer Makura, when that ship went out of commission, to ioin other New Zealand ships. . The agreement was terminated by the Sydney Union, as the officials claim that the agreement was dishonoured by the action of the New Zealand Union. This means that in future all New Zealand members on Australian ships will be compelled to transfer to the Australian organisation if they wish to retain their positions.—Press Assn.
