The Governor-General rias been advised that the King has conferred the following honours for services in connection with the Wembley Exhibition K.B.B.—Alexander Bowler l\oberts, C.8.E., Conuuissioner for New Zealand. C.B.E.—William Edwin C. Reid, Assistant Commissioner for New Zealand. Air. Roberts-, y; ho Is a son of Sir John Roberts, was born .in Dunedin and educated at Merchiston Castle School, Edinburgh, and later at Cambridge University (where he won his Rugby “blue”). Mr. Roberts joined the firm of Messis. Murray, Roberts, and Co. at Dunedin in 1903, and came to e *" lington in 1912. He was lor war service, and, holding the rank of lieutenant-colonel in the N.Z.F.A., was in charge of the embarkation pf the troops for the N.Z.E.F. between 1914 and 1918. Air. Roberts, upon whs>m was later conferred the C.B.E. order) was the first - president of the Rotary Club, worked enthusiastically as a member and chairman of the Navy League, was a member of the council of the New Zealand Chambers of Commerce, a local director of the A.ALP. Society, a member of the Lower Hutt Borough Council, and a director of the Wellington Meat. Export Company. He was a golfer of prominence,, and was at one time a first-grade cricketer. Air. Roberts, who has only recently returned to the Dominion, acted as New Zea.land Commissioner at the Wembley Exhibition. Born in Dunedin in 1870, Mr. Reid received his education locally, and commenced his career in a clerical position in 1884. Since 1900 lie lias carried on business as a public accountant, auditor, and company secretary at Dunedin. In November, 1923, he was appointed Assistant Commissioner for the Dominion at Wembley.
