ATHLETIC SPORTS TO-DAY
The second of the Dewar Shield sports meetings will be held on Athletic Park commencing at 2.30 p.m. to-day. Leadbctter, Paris- and Jenkins arc the scratch men in the sprint events and Kyle. Campbell and Mitchell in the middle distance events. Kyle’s time in the quartcr-niile is expeeled Io go very near to breaking the New Zealand reiord. A new runner who will attract a good deal of attention is Newton, of Wanganui, who has been putting up very good limns recently. ("veling races arc again a special feature, and Flett and Robinson arc expected Io light out some great finishes. Boys’ motor-tire races will he a novelty. Ladies’ races and fie’d events complete n very al.lractive programme.
