CORN BORER’S DEPREDATIONS IN CANADA “SPREAD LIKE WILDFIRE” Ottawa, December 25. Owing to the continued spread of the European corn borer, Hie corn crop of North America is m dangei, according to a statement by Mr. Arthur Gibson, entomologist of the Federal Department of Agriculture. Mr. Gibson says that the caterpillar Ims spread like wildfire during the last two years. Ontario was the only' province interested as yet. but the pest had already spread into Ohio and Michigan, and would undoubtedly soon reach the great corn belt of the United States. —Aus.-N.Z. Tho ravages of the European 'corn borer, while potentially dangerous, is not as acute in the United States, is the opinion of Dr. Howard, chief of the Bureau of Entomology of the Department of Agriculture, as it is described lo be in Canada.
