TIDING OVER OF CRITICAL PERIOD BY EXTENSION OF AMERICAN CREDITS COOLIDGE ON THE WAR 1 DEBTS President Coolidge describes how the critical post-war period was tided over by the extern sion of American credits, and characterises the terms thus far granted to debtor nations as very generous. President Coolidge, addressing the annual dinner of the New York State Chamber of Commerce, pleaded for * more sympathetic understanding between business and Government. He was of opinion that the overwhelming prosperity of the United States was due to the practicil independence and mutual helpfulness of Government and business. The President described how the critical post-war jreriod had been tided over bv the extension of American credits,’ not only to Europe, but also to Latin-America, Australia, and Japan. He characterised the' terms thus far granted to debtor'nations seeking to settle their war debts as very generous, but considered that they would prove mutually beneficial to all concerned. in conclusion he urged most positively American adherence to the World Court.—Reuter.
