The president. Mr. F. Meadowcroft, presided over the fortnightly meeting of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, which was held on Monday. It was reported that several cases of cruelty had been notified since the previous meeting, and all bad been investigated and dealt with in a satisfactory manner. Tn addition to the usual inspections in and around Wellington the inspector had paid visits to the Otaki district and the Hutt Valley. Several minor cases had been effectively dealt with by a word of warning and advice from the inspector. The organiser reported that subscriptions and donations amounting to £l2 12s. 6d. had been received, and that sum included .£2 4s. from the Island BsV Junior League. £1 Is. from A. S Patterson and Co.. Ltd., and £1 each from “Protector,” Misses Rouse-Martin, and Messrs. Murphy Bros.
