ACCIDENT IN MULGRAVE STREET

TRAMCAR OBSCURES MOTOR DRIVER’S VISION. Shortly after 5 o’clock last evening a serious accident was -narrowly averted In Mulgrave Street near Lambton Quay, when Masie Rasmussen, aged 8, whose parents reside at 119 Wallace Street, was injured outside the 'lhistle Inn Ilotel. The child Had been on'a message to the grocer’s store opposite the hotel to which she was returning. A nlotor-car driven by Dr. P. I). Cameron turned up Mulgrave Street from Lambton Quay, and owing to the driver’s vision being obscured by a tramcar parked in the former street he was unaware of the child’s approach. Dr. Cameron promptly brought his car to a standstill, but not until it had knocked the little girl down, and the right wheel had passed over her arm itith (ts weight upon her body. V Dr. Whyte was summoned, and with Dr. Cameron he examined the child, who, besides suffering from a cut in her forchsad, complained of abdominal pains. She received medical attention at Hie hotel, and at 9.15 p.m. was admitted to the Public Hospital, for observation.

The accident was all the more unfortunate on account of the fact that the victim had the day previous celebrated her eighth birthday with her aunt, Mrs. Oben,. of the Thistle Inn Hotel, and with whom she was to have spent a fortnight’s holiday.
