BRITISH INDUSTRIES

EFFORT TO INCREASE

TRADE

NEXT YEAR’S BIG FAIR Information has reached the office of H.M. Trade Commissioner of the efforts which are being made to win for the forthcoming British Industries Fair, to be held in London and Birmingham he. tween February 15 and 26. fame of tho biggest, brightest, and best in the ten years of its short, but successful history. The British Government have undertaken tho organisation of the fail as part of their grvat 'constructional policy for dealing with unemployment at Home and for simultaneously building up and'stimulating an ever-increas-ing volume of Empire trade. The Home Govern'ment have realised that after all. relief schemes arc bui palliatives, and that it is far better to avert tho evil of unemployment, and thus enable the worker to retain his occupation and the high degree of skill which he has acquired by years of practice. To keep works and factories going well-filled order books are necessary, and in order to secure that result the British Government have decided to cooperate with tho Homo manufacturers bv every means in their power, in an extensive selling campaign on behalf of British goods. Special interest attaches to the. coming fair' in that it forms a prominent feature of the "buy British good s’ ’ campaign, and is complementary to the efforts which are being made at Home to give effect to the. great flood of Imperial sentiment hr increasing tho sales of tho products of 'Now Zealand, and tho other portions of our great Empire. The propaganda associated with this movement has not be.en confined to Great Britain nnd intensive efforts arc being made to stimulate the overseas for British manufacturers. Thus it is anticipated that tho fair will appeal even more stronglv that! usual to tho buyers from New Zealand and the other Dominions. i The buyer from overseas will .be able through the unique concentration and representative character of th- fair, to examine side by side the products of the loading firms in the particular class of business in which he is interested and this without loss'of time and effort, whilst he- can discuss his requirements with tho actual manufacturers on the spot and obtain immediate advice, assistance. and information of all kinds from Government exports in attendance. A special buyers’ club will ho available, provided with . reading and writing rooms, cable facilities, etc. Further information on specific points may ho obtained from the office of H.M.
