GOVERNMENTS POSITION IMPROVED .THE LATEST RETURNS Br Tblbgraph.—Press Association. Copyright Sydney, November 18. The latest returns do not alter the state of the parties in the House of Renresentatives. An analysis shows that approximately 55 per cent, of the total votes cast have gone to Ministerialists and 45 per cent, to Labour. On the count of first preferences, Ministerialists for the Senate have a majority of more than 200,000. Mr. E. G. Theodore now appears to be defeated for the Herbert seat.—Press Assn. NATIONALISTS’ MAJORITY IN SENATE TWO TO.ONE AGAINST LABOUR (Rec. November 19, 1-5 a.m.) Sydney, November 18. Throughout the Commonwealth the position of the Ministerialists improves with the counting of votes. Of four previously doubtful seats two have now gone to the Nationalists and one to Labour, leaving one still doubtful. It will probably go to Labour. The Nationalists made a clean sweep in the Senate. The state of parties in that Chamber will be: Nationalists Labour 1® —Press Assn. THE KENNEDY SEAT _ ■ \ Brisbane, November 18. Mr. Francis, who was elected for the Kennedy seat, following the death of Mr. McDonald, the Labour candidate, denies that he intends to resign and contest the seat again.—Press Assn.
