FIRES IN MELBOURNE
THREE OUTBREAKS GREAT DAMAGE DONE (Rec. November 18, 10.25 p.m.) Melbourne, November 18. Fire destroyed a building in Lonsdale Street, the two top floors of which were occupied by the Standard Costume Company, and the bottom floor by the Meadows Company, glass bevellers. The damage amounts to many thousands of pounds. A second outbreak in South Melbourne destroyed a portion of the premises occupied by the Manufacturing Company and the Williamson Page Motor and Cycle Company, causing considerable damage. Fire also destroyed adjoining factories occupied by the Humphreys Proprietary, Limited, carpenters and joiners, and the Reliance Motor Body Company. The damage amounted to £15,000. — Press 'Assn.
