LONDON BAKERS CHARGING TOO MUCH FOOD COUNCIL’S REPORT London, November 17. ■ The Food Council reports that when the price of straight-run flour ranges from 48s. to 425. for ,280 pounds, the price of the quartern loaf should not exceed lOd.; when flour is from 325. to 365. per 280 pounds, the price of bread should not exceed Bd. per quartern. A variation of ds. intermediately alters the price of bread by id. These prices must be considered the maximum. Many bakers, especially where the trade is mainly over the counter, are able to sell more cheaply. Further investigation confirms the council’s experience F t London bakers are charging an exorbitant price.—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn.
