Gordon Stewart, a married man, employed at the City Council’s paving plant at Rongotni, suffered an injury to his arm yesterday afternoon, and was admitted to the Hospital. Tie is said to bo making satisfactory progress.
According to the "Commonwealth Jeweller”. Mr. Stewart Dawson holds the distinction of being the oldest retail jeweller in Australia, having last month completed 54 years in business. The firm of Stewart Dawson Co., Ltd., have branches in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin, and two establishments in London.
Referring to a letter from the School Committees’ Association received at the Education Board meeting yesterday, the secretary and returning officer (Mr. G. L. Stewart) admitted that one committee’s voting papers had not reached members owing to his inability to illness to forward them to individual committeemen. It was a most unusual case, and it was found that voting was much fuller than at any Parliamentary or other local body election.
