RIDDIFORD CUP
INSPECTION OF NELSON COLLEGE CADETS. By Telegraph—Special Correspondent. Nelson, November 18. The College Cadets this afternoon were inspected by Colonel Burgess, Major Henderson, and Captain Conway, the examining board in the competition for the Riddiford Cup, at present held by the college. Musketry, infantry, and physical drill wore gone through, the lads showing remarkable steadiness and executing the movements with splendid precision. Tho Hon. Sir Heaton Rhodes (Minister of Defence) was prosent’for a short, period, and after inspecting the Cadets gave a short address, in which he stated that ho had always held a high opinion of them and congratulated them on their past performances. After completion of the inspection Colonel Burgefls, in an address to N.C.O/s, said that' when he first inspected tho Cadets four years apo they estabished a very high standard of work, and each succeeding year he had expected the same standard. This year the Cadets had not disappointed the examining board.
