WAIRARAPA ASSOCIATION. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Mastertcn, November 16. The first meeting of the Management Committee of the recently-formed Wairarapa Lawn Tennis Association was hold on Saturday night, tho president (Mr. S. R. Gawith) presiding. Permission was granted the Masterton Club to hold the first Wairarapa championship tournament in January. It was decided*, to consider later the holding of an inter-club competition, probably for a challenge shield. A letter was received from the Hawke’s Bay Association asking for a provincial match. It was decided to agree to the proposal on a date to suit Hawke’s Bay, the match to be played preferably in the AVairarapa. Afessrs. Gawith, F. AAL Afartin, and R. AV. Roydhouso were appointed selectors. Afessrs. H. AL Boddington, N. W. Groves, J. Alartin, and R. W. Roydhouse were appointed delegates to the New Zealand Association. Affiliation was granted to the Mount Bruce, Alangatainoka, and Mangamutu Clubs. . . . i

A meeting of the Management Committee of the AVcllington Provincial Lawn Tennis Association was held last night. Mr. N. A. Foden was in the chair. In view of the great success which attended the lecture by Air. J. C. Peacock, arrangem'-nts are to be made for further lectures on fiubjects. relating to the lawn tennis • game. At next meeting of the committee the reduction of tho number of pairs of tennis balls that may be bought from the association for ladder matches will be considered At present three pairs of balls are allowed. Some members of the committee say this is too many, and advocate two pairs a& being quite sufficient. The various clubs arc to bo written to and asked to select three oi; four of their players whom the association will appoint as honorary coaches to look after tsc interests of promising players of those clubs, and coach them. Air. C. L. Mayo and the chairman were selected to draw “'up a programme for the provincial tournament, to be played on hard courts at Miramar, com mencing January 21. Tn the matter of tho Is. levy authorised last May, ihew N.Z.L.T.A. wrote asking whether the AVellington Associalion would collect from club members, or prefer the N.Z. A»sociation to collect. Tho committee agreed that tho former course was the proper one, and the. N.Z.L.T.A. is to be advised to that effect.
