PLAY AREA AT BROOKLYN SCHOOL

THE GOVERNMENT PRAISED. Praise of the Government for its liberal treatment of the Brooklyn school in the matter of increased playing area was expressed by a local committeeman last night. “Some time ago,’’ he said, “we raised £440 at our carnival, and a subsidy was promised by the Government. Recently we obtained authority to purchase tiro cottages in Washington Avenue, whose grounds adjoin those of the school, for tllb purpose of increasing the playing area. The cottages have a good deal of ground, and its addition will, mean a lot to the school. Mr. Parr did not beat about the bush, and we are more than pleased with the very liberal way in which he treated us.”

The committee has a bifr year ahead, and steps are already being taken to push forward the work of improving the grounds.
