MELBOURNE STRIKE
BASIS OF SETTLEMENT PROPOSED
Melbourne, May 9. A compulsory conference of. the Tramway Board and the executive of the union has been summoned by tho President of the Arbitration Court for to-day, to discuss means for settling the dispute.—Press Assn. (Rec. May 9, 10.30 p.m.) Melbourne, May 9.
The parties to the tram strike agreed upon a proposed basis of settlement of the strike, io be submitted to a mass meeting of the strikers. The compulsory conference has been indefinitely postponed, pending the outcome of the proposals, which have not been inac’o public.—Press Assn.
