VETERANS’ CHURCH PARADE
An impressive military service and church parade for veterans of the Maori. South African, and Groat Mars, as well as members of the Red Cross and kindred bodies, was held at St. Paul’s Pro-Cathedral yesterday afternoon. There was a large attendance of veterans. A contingent of officei s and men from the visiting warships also attended. The Rev. Howard Lloyd, 8.A.. Chaplain of H.M.S. Hood, based his _ sermon on "Peace Be "With You, and dealt with the troublous, anxious times of war and the common aim for peace on earth. The Rev. A. >' . H. Compton led in prayer, and the Rev. D C Bates read the Scripture lesson. Mr. W. A. Gondie gave an impressive rendering of Willeby’s “Crossing the Bar.” The veterans marched from the Post Office to the church headed by the Caledonian Pipe Band and Judd s Patriotic Baud. The offerings were in aid of the proposed military chapel at the new Anglican Cathedral.
