TREASON TRIAL
MARITZ PLEADS GUILTY CO-OPERATION WITH GERMANS DENIED By Telegraph—Press Association. —Coptbight. Cape Town, April 22. Colonel Martie Maritz, on trial by a special Court for treason, pleaded guilty to the treason and other charges in connection with the rebellion, except as to allegations of handing over equipment and horses to the Germans, and inciting members of the defence force to rebellion. In a written statement he denied ever having worn a Gorman uniform or having carried out movements in co-operation with the Germans; and especially that he ever received money from the Germans, except two thousand marks,, which was given to assist him in his flight to Angola. Sentence was deferred.- -Sydney “Sun” Cable.
