LACK OF LIFE-SAVING FACILITIES
AT TITAHI BAY. The lack of life-saving facilities at Titahi Bay was in evidence on Sunday when a lad named Murray got into trouble while attempting to swim from one side of the bay to the other. When half-way across the lad was noticed to be in distress, and it was found that the only boat in which anybody ' could put out to the rescue was a small dinghy. This was manned by Messrs. S. W. Moult and J. Young, but it was ' found to be leaking badly, and it was only with the greatest difficulty that it was kept afloat until it picked up the. boy in trouble and brought him ashore. An eye witness remarks that no time should be lost in providing a proper boat for use in emergencies such as the above.
