SOUTH ISLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS (BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Blenheim, April 22. The South Island rifle championship meeting was brought to a conclusion under mixed shooting conditions. The champion emerged in W. H. West (Renwick), an old Blenheim boy, who has a great record as a marksman, being runner-up on two or three occasions for the New Zealand championship. The tyro champion is E. C. Peake (Kaituna) . Following are the leaders in the belt series: —W. H. West (Renwick), 35-4; W. A. Kenning (Nelson), 349; H. H. Mclntosh (Blenheim), 349; G. T. Gardiner (Havelock), 317; W. N. Masefield (Coast), 345; A. R. Barker (Linkwater), West’s score in the final was the best of the match, and put his claim to the belt beyond question.
