SALE OF CITY FREEHOLDS
The auction rooms of Messrs. S. George Nathan and Co. were crowded yesterday afternoon when, acting under instructions from Mr. J. L. Arcus, liquidator of Robert Martin, Ltd., the linn submitted the freehold property with a frontage of 37ft. Gin. to Manners Street by a depth of over 100 ft., together with two shops thereon. Thj s property runs right through to Willis Street, having a frontage of 32ft. to the latter street by a depth of nearly 180 ft., together with a three-story brick building thereon. The property was first offered as a whole. Bidding started at £27,000, rose to £35,000, and was passed in as the reserve was not reached. Tho Manners Street frontage was next offered separately. Bidding started at £20,000 and rose to £23,000. Tho Willis Street ■ property was then offered; bidding started at £lO,OOO and rose to £ll.OOO- The next: property belonged to the estate of the late Mrs. M. A. Martin, known as No. 13 Kent Terrace, having a frontage of 56.5 links by a depth of 375.75 links, together with a 13-roomoi! residence thereon. The property is within a couple of hundred feet o’f the new theatre. Bidding startd nt £5OOO and rose to 7350, lint the reserve was not. reached. All the properties are now in the hands of the auctioneers for private sale.
