WANGANUI WATERSIDERS’ AWARD
INTERPRETATIONS BEFORE THE COURT.

A short sitting of the Arbitration Court was held here this morning, when three ixjints concerning the watersiders came up for interpretation, viz.: Men being summoned for work at Castlecliff at 3.35 a.m., and uirmng up and not being required, owing to the vessel being delayed, claimed they were entitled to four hours at double rates, whereas they ! were actually paid iwo hours. The other case was whether men working lighters were entitled to the same rates as the special rates provided by clause 3 of the award. 'J he other dispute was in regard to tho interpretation of clauses 23 and 46 in relation to payment for i.nterveliing time when men who had worked from midnight were knocked off at 6.15 to 7 a.m. on account of rain. Decision was reserved.
