“WELL-KNOWN HOTEL THIEF”
MAORI SENT TO GAOL. A young Maori named Timi Puti entered the dock in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday on two charges concerning thefts from hotels. It was explained by Chief Delectlvn Kemp that accused purloined a wristlet watch, valued nt £2, from a room in a Lower Hutt hotel, and helped himself to a razor and a pair of spectacles from the Dominion Hotel. "Ho is a well-known liolol thief,” added ino chief detective, "and I would point oat that this class of offence is still very prevalent in Wellington. Accused, who pleaded guilty. was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment on each charge, the terms to be concurrent.
