THE GAME IN WELLINGTON GOOD SEASON EXPECTED The annual meeting of the Wellington Football Association was held last night, Mr. A. E. Wells presiding. About seventy delegates were present, representing tlie following clubs: — Thistle. Y.M.C.A., Marist, Diamonds, South Wellington, Karori, Waterside,Brooklyn, Swifts. Scottish Wanderers, Institute, Island Bay, Petone, Wadestown. Seatoun. Johnsonville, Hutt, Stop Out, St. Patrick’s, St. Peter’s, Technical, Anglican, Central Mission, end Midland. The chairman congratulated the meeting upon the enthusiasm, shown by the large attendance, which, he thought, augured well for a successful and satisfactory season. In moving the adoption of the report and balancesheet, Mr. Wells said that it was fortunate that, generally, things went very well last year, and they had one of the finest seasons in the history of the game. Ono. of the most important aspects of association football was the school games, for which they had a good committee. Great results would accrue from the interest taken by schoolmasters in the progress of their pupils. One drawback was tho lack of sufficient playing areas, but while they had complaints as to tho state of some of tho grounds, good games had been played on worse grounds in the old clays. He paid a tribute to the Referees’ Association for the work done by its 'members. Representative and Chatham cup matches were becoming a serious , drawback to ordinary cup fixtures, and would have to be curtailed. The loss on the year (£110) was almost all duo to the losses, on representative fixtures and iouung teams, amounting to £93. He drew the attention' of delegates to the manner in which the accident insurance scheme had gone back financially during the last two years, and emphasised the necessity for strengthening it. Mr W. Duncan seconded the motion, and referred in detail to the losses on representative matches, especially at Auckland and Canterbury. He regretted that capitation would have to be increased this season unless it closed in a good financial position. He pointed out that some members of old school teams were now playing representative football, an earnest; of the gam in encouraging boys. . ~ Mt. H- Mayer congratulated tlio Manao-ement Committee on the excellent work done last season, surpassing anything in the history of Association football here. The motion was earned. The Lyall Bay Club was affiliated to the association, providing two teams are played.
