TO-DAY’S BIG GATHERING. Tot the provincial athletic championships, which tnlvo place at Athletic 1 ark this afternoon, an excellent programme has been arranged, and some of the best talent in New Zealand (in some events the best m New Zealand and Australia) will be seen in action. With performers such as Rose (distonce runner), Munro (field events), and H Wilson (hurdles and sprints) competing. the standard of performances should be of a 2 high order. In the sprint events competition will bo flonbly keen, as athlete to represent New. Zealand at the Australasian championships in this class will be selected on the <lk y s showing. Probably the biggest fields seen in Wollin"(on since the cycling rem al wi cycling events, no.fewer than 17 entries having been received for ench. T-idles’ races, relay racwi. and baJ s Jfents will Mi help to give interest to a lengthy programme, which requires to ba commenced at 1.50 p.m.
