« CHARACTER OF COUNTRY CHANGED INTERVIEW WITH GENERAL DE JHVERA London, January 17. The “Daily Express’s” special correspondent at Madrid intervewed General De Rivera, who said that the bloodless ' revolution in September changed tho whole character of Spain, and ended terrors such as strikes and class, wars. . The Government, which was formerly corrupt, was now disciplined and moral. During three months the national expenditure had decreased by £3,000,000, and the revenue had increased by £2,500,000. “This year will he full of reforms, and I think the effect of them will be the regeneration of the country, for which I risked my life,’ said General De Bivera. “Whereas the last four months of 1923 were destructive, the first four months of 1924 will be constructive. I hope that when the British Socialist Party takes over the government it will reconcile its principles with good-will and order.” , King Alfonso xesterday conferred on General De Rivera the title of Grandee of Spain.—Aus.-N.Z.
