EXAMINATION RESULTS
♦ REMARKABLE SUCCESS OF NELSON PUPILS BT TELEGRAPH.— SPECIAL CORBESPONnENT. Nelson, January 17. The results of the National Junior Scholarships have now been published, and a comparison of the results obtained at Nelson, Wanganui, and Taranaki gives Nelson a very big lead. For instance, tho Wanganui education district, with. 16000 primary pupils, secured seven junior national scholarships : the Taranaki education district, with 11,000 -primary pupils, five: while Nelson, with 7001) primary pupils, secured thirteen; in other words, Nelson, with 7000 primary pupils, secured 13 scholarships, while the two other districts mentioned, with 27.000 primary pupils, secured 12 scholarships. In the public service entrance examination last year Nelson achieved remarkable success considering the smallness of the population compared with such districts as Auckland, Canterbury, Wellington, and Otago. Of the first 35 competitors on the list, Auckland had three, Canterbury seven, Hawke’s Bay five, Nel'son seven, Otago two, Wellington five, and Wanganui six.
