DEMENTED SIGNALMAN
SIX PASSENGER TRAINS HELD UP (Rec. January 16, 7.15 p.m.) Melbourne, January 16. Early morning travellers to the city were held up at Clifton Hill owing to a signalman developing dementia.. He chased his assistant out of the signal box and pursued him madly, threatening to kill him, until he took refuge in"the stationmaster’s office. The man then quietened down and asked that another man be sent to take his place. Ho went home subsequently. The man was arrested after a severe struggle, and lodged in a receiving house. In the meantime, six passenger trains were held up until a new sinnalman was secured. —Press Assn.
