ITALY AND THE SOVIET POLITICAL AND COMMERCIAL PACT By Telegraph—Press Association. —OOPTBIGHT. London, January 15. The Rome correspondent of “The Times” says:— “The Italian Treaty with Moscow is expected definitely to be concluded this week. Commissar Jordansky, hpad of the Russian Trade Delegation at Rome, in a statement said that the treaty was now in the final drafting stage. It was divided. into two parts—political and commercial. Italy, he added, had asked for no extraordinary concessions, but as tho first of the great Powers to formally recognise the Soviet Government, she would receive greater advantages than the others, which might subsequently follow her example.”—“The Tinies.” ITALY AND JUGO-SLAVIA WAY TO PEACEFUL RELATIONS PAVED London. January 15. The Belgrade correspondent of “The Times” says : — „ “Although the Italo-Jugo-Slav Treaty is not yet signed, an. unauthoritative version of the conditions which, has been published, with what are believed to be the main points, is actively being discussed. Apparently the treaty includes a political and military agreement, and a separate agreement regulating Fiumo and a commercial agreement. Many here, including both Serbs and Italians, are sceptical of the value of the first part, in winch both countries affirm their desire to live in friendly., relations and assist each other in tlie case of attack by a third country. It is evident, however, that the definite settlement of the thorny question of Fiume paves the way to peaceful relations. It is expected that a meeting will be arranged shortly between Signor Mussolini and M. Pashitch, when the treaty will be signed. —“The Tinies.”
