SOUTHLAND EXPECTS A RECORD SEASON

According to advices received, by the local Tourist Office, this season will be a record ono so far as tourist traffic to the southern wonderland is concerned. There are extensive bookings for Queenstown, far in advance of anv previous years, while at Stewart Island the accommodation is fully booked up for months ahead. The Te Anau-Milford Sound trip described as the finest walk in the world, promises to see an exceptionally large number travel over it. A large party from the 'L'ararua Tramping Club will make a trip to the sound, in addition to which parties from Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch have also arranged to make the journey. An encouraging feature is the large number of inquries from abroad, pointing to a big influx of American and British tourists early in the New Year.
