RADIUM TREATMENT IN THE SOUTH

A conference on the subject of radium was held between the Otago Hospital Board and representatives of the North Canterbury board. Mr. Ottlev. chairman of the Canterbury board. said tho visitors had really coma foi information. They were anxious to make an arrangement with either the Wellington or the Otago boards to receive and pav tor assistance given in radium treatment. Dr. Barnett referred to the splendid results from radium treatment in Dunedin. He suggested Dunedin should obtain an emanation outfit from which Dunedin would be able to supply tho needs of Otago, Canterbury and Southland. His opinion was that it was much better for Canterbury to depend on Dunedin at present. He strongly advised Canterbury not to go in for expenditure in the meantime. The difficulties of the transportation of the tubes had bc*?n overcome in other narts. Dr. Barnett also suggested that the sum of £l5O. which the Canterbury Board had_ in hand for radium, migh be used advantageously on an X-rav plant.
