The proposed amendment to tho building by-laws with regard to the construction of elevators, which was the subject of a deputation from the Chamber of Commerce recently, was not confirmed in its present form by the City Council last night. A diamond worth about £lO,OOO has been dug up at Kimberley, South Africa.
