WELLINGTON COLLEGE

OLD BOYS VISIT THE SCHOOL. At Wellington College yesterday morning, representatives of the Old Boys’ Association carried out a time-honoured custom in paying a visit to the college and talking to the present pupils. The party comprised Dr. J. S. Elliott, president of the Old Boys' Association, Messrs. M. Myers, K.C.. W. E. Bethune, AV Denton. 11. Desborough, C. A. Innes, and Mr. J. P. Firth, C.M.G., for so many years principal of the school The pupils were assembled in the college hall, nnd Mr. Cresswell, M.A., principal, introduced the visitors. Dr. Elliott spoke chiefly on the advantages, responsibilities, and importance of citizenship, and tendered some sound advice to his hearers. Mr. Myers, the other speaker, dwelt on the necessity for hard, work if one expected to gain a position in the community worth while, and interested those present by relating some of his experiences when attending the college under Mr. Firth. A presentation was made to Mr. Myers bv Mr. Cresswell of the first copy of the new issue of the Wellingtonian. Vol 32. the college magazine, of which Mr. Myers was the founder. It is issued in enlarged form nnd contains several new features, the frontispiece being a panoramic photography of the whole of tho present year’s scholars, while the book is finely 'illustrated throughout. The boys contributed several musical items, and the gathering ended with three lusty cheers for Mr. J. P. Firth, and the old boys.
