GISBORNE HARBOUR SCHEME
Bi- TELEGUArn— -Press Association Gisborne, November 26. The Harbour Board to-day rejected , a proposal to divert the Waimata River through the Kaiti and approved tjie carrying out of the inner section of the harbour works recently _ap- ' proved. This means that the river will be diverted near its mouth on the Waikanae side, and that the new. harbour will be developed 15 feet deep nt low water along the Kaiti side, of the present harbour. No now outer ■ breakwater is included in this scheme. The cost is estimated at £500,000.
