UNEMPLOYMENT
POSITION ABOUT NORMAL
The number of unemployed in Wellington registered with the Labour Department last week was about normal, totalling 111, against 104 a fortnight ago. Labourers head the list with 45. Other occupations represented were:— Clerical, 11; drivers, 8; cooks, etc., 6; electricians and engineers, 5 each; bootmakers, storemen, 4 each ; seamen and engine-drivers, 3 each; married couples, painters, butchers, farmhands, 2 each ; also one baker, cooper, spinner, and woodturner. Amongst billets open are two each for coach and motor-body makers, farmhands,,ploughmen, and youths for 1 factories, as well as carpenters, and an ironmoulder and a boiler-maker.
