A CO-OPERATIVE SCHEME ? REPORTED OFFER TO UNION Bi- Telegraph—Press Association. Creymouth, November 27. It is understood that Mr. U. R. Kimbell (Under-Secretary for Mmes) will to-morrow submit to representatives of the State Miners’ Union proposals for working the State mines of thg Grey district, the Liverpool, and Janies collieries, on a co-operative basis, dividing the mines into seven sections, any one of which may be co-operatively worked on trial. If the whole scheme is accepted, a board of control will be established representing the men and the Department, with the Minister of Mines as chairman. If only one or two sections a;-e decided on, there will be no board.
Subsequently Mr. Kimbell will address a public meeting of miners at Runanga on the scheme. Any alternative proposals from the men will be given consideration.
