MOTOR-CYCLISTS TO BLAME
WOMAN TRIPS OVER TOAA 7 ROPE
The obligations of a motor cyclist who consents to “tow” a companion were pointed out by Mr. W. G. Riddell. S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday, when finding that two such motor cyclists had been guilty of negligence. by which Margaret Stables, professional masseuse, had ustamed inprciessional masseuse, had sustained injuries. . Defendants were Thomas McGoldrick and Vernon Grove, against whom Mrs. Stables claimed to recover £B9 2s. 6d. It was stated that while running in an endeavour to catch a tram -plaintiff could not see the rope connecting the two motor cycles and consequently tripped, breaking her left wrist and sustaining several bruises. Tho defence was that plaintiff should. have seen the rope, and that if sho failed to do so her injuries were solely the consequence of her own negligence. . Tho Magistrate said he was satisfied that defendants had been negligent, in stopping their bicycles in the position mentioned, on tho wrong side of the road, and he was not satisfied that there had been contributory negligence. He gave judgment for plaintiff for £B3 Is. 6d. and costs. Mr. L. H. Herd appeared for plaintiff and Mr. A. M. Cousins for defence.
