SYDNEY CONSIGNMENT FOR BUENOS AYRES

On th-3 Maunganui, which arrived from Sydney yesterday, was an interesting collection of Australian animals and birds, which are being forwarded by tho Taronga Park Zoo authorities, Sydney, to tho Zoo in Buenos Ayres, Argentine, in return for a consignment of animals and birds from South America for. The consignment, which is being transhipped to the lonic, consists of two magpie geese, two Martin ducks, a lot of cockatoos, a whole cclonv <>f Queensland finches of the most brilliant hues, cassowaries, emus, pelicans, a native companion (Australian crane), crested eagles, five pairs of kangaroos, four pairs of wallabies, one pair of dingos, one pair of wombats, and live pairs of opossums. The birds and animals came across without a mishap of any kind, and the whole company was looking in great heart when inspected yesterday afternoon. Pursuant to a request from tho Taronga Park authorities local assistance in the transhipment of the zoological collection was given by Mr. J. Langridge, curator of the Zoo at Newtown Park. The collection is under the charge of the Taronga Park overseer, Mr. J. Miller, who is assisted by Air. P. Torcher. Air. Miller, on delivery of his consignment to the Buenos Ayres zoo, will take delivery of a selection of llamas, alpacas, guanacos. pumas, and other examples of South American fauna.
