The following officers have been nominated by the Carterton Volunteer [Fire Brigade for the ensuing year:—Captain F. W. Jackson: first lieutenant, H. Hatson; second lieutenant, R. Wakelin: foreman, E. Wakctin; secretary and treasurer, R. Smith ; custodian, J. Tinsley; executive, Messrs. M. F. King. _C. G. Hansen, J. I/enihan, J. Eepinski, L. G. Adams, and T. Pike; auditor, Mr. H. M. B. Trapp. Mr. D. H. S. Riddiford has been re-elected chairman of the Featherston Longwood Water-race Committee. The Carterton and Masterton miniature rifle clubs have arranged to fire a match on the Carterton range toA reassuring cablegram has been received in' Carterton by the secretary of the local dairy companies, from Messrs. J. and J. Lonsdale, Ltd., dairy produce merchants, London. The cablegram was dated June 4, and advises that the cheese market is steady, and is quoted at 90s. and 925. per cwt.
