IMMIGRATION AND LAND SETTLEMENT
MORE PROGRESSIVE POLICY URGED.
Br Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, June 7. At a meeting of the New Zealand Immigration and Land Settlement League, Mr. Mackenzie, chairman of the Auckland Harbour Board, presiding, Mr. Hudson, chairman nf the Chamber of Commerce, said that some proposals before the conference were such that the chamber could not countenance them.
Resolutions were carried expressing tho urgent need of more progressive land settlement and immigration policy ; that tho head of the Department should possess a. knowledge of similar work done in other countries; that the Railway and Public Works Departments should co-operate to provide railway and road access to give effect to such a policy as outlined.
