WELLINGTON CROQUET CLUB

On Friday afternoon a very pleasant time was spent on the Wellington Croquet Club’s lawns, when the closing of the present season took place. Competitions were held, afternoon tea dispensed, and Mrs. A. George, president of the club, in a few remarks complimented the club on its , successful season. also on Airs. Leech being runnerup in the championship of the Wellington tournament, and Alosdames Leech and Norris, runners-up in the championship, doubles at the same meeting. The prizes for the successful winners of the clqb’s games during the session were presented as follow: — Championship, Airs. Leech ; runnerup. Airs. De Tourettes. Handicap Doubles: Alesdames Leech and Hendry; runners-up Aliss Feist and Air.;. Short. Handicap Singles: Airs. Do Tourettes; runnerup, Airs. Norris. B ChampionshipMiss Feist; runner 7 up, Airs. Osborn Consolation prize: Airs. R. Ramsay: runner-up, Airs. Houldsworth. C Championship: Airs. Rickard; runnerup, Airs. Talbot. O Championship Doubles: Alesdames Rickard and AleGill ; runners-up, Alesdames Noble and Talbot. C Consolation: Airs. A. Ramsay. Competitions were held during the day, the following being the winners:—Break, Airs. Norris; . golf, Airs. Pritchard; French croquet, Airs. Osborn; target, Mrs. Pritchard. Prizes for the various events ' were donated by the following ladies :—Mesdames Dagger, Rickard, Houldsworth, It Ramsay, A. Clark, Leech, Hendry', Osborn, AV. H. Smith, Pritchard, Hain, Crosby, Shelley, George, and Short. The members of the club presented Mrs. Hendry, secretary, and Airs Osborn, treasurer, with useful gifts in recognition of their services for the past season. ,
