Yesterday’s buying and selling quotations were as follow:—

BUTTER AND CHEESE FURTHER FALL IN PRICES Private cable messages received yesterday showed a further fall in the quotations Tor both butter and cheese. Butler was quoted at 168s.whito cheese nt 1205., and at 1225. The High Commissioner’s quotations are higher, but both tho official and private messages indicate that the market is weaker. Butter at 168 s. is back to the price it stood at on December 7, when there was a slump. There is not the same chance now as there was then for a speedy recovery for European supplies arc available in quantity, which was not the case in December. Tho drop in cheese is probably due to Canadian supplies reaching the market together with some from the Continent, and perhaps some from the United States. A certain quantity of butter has been sold for shipment to Australia, and perhaps further shipments will bo made, but much will depend upon tho price and the climatic conditions in Australia.
