SIGN-POSTING THE ROADS

TOUR OF INSPECTION TO PALMERSTON TO BE MADE. • A tour to Palmerston via the Akatarawa, returning next day via Foxton and Packakariki, is to be undertaken by the Wellington Automobile Club, with a view to drawing up a list of direction and danger signs required, inspecting all railway crossings en route, and noting road conditions generally. At yesterday’s meeting of the committee of tho club it was decided to make the run on Saturday, May 19, returning next day, and to call a public meeting of motorists in Palmerston for the Saturday night to discuss a number of matters of general interest to motorists, and to consider also the formation of an Automobile Association or branch at Palmerston. The committee is extending an invitation to club members generally to accompany them, and hopes to have a representative contingent of Wellington motorists make the trip. If enough signify-their intention of going, a meeting with a view io forming a branch of the club in Levin may also be held with a view to having motorists’ interests represented in the important county centre of Horowhenua, which covntv controls a long stretch of the main West Coast Road.
