buried under fall of CONCRETE by telegraph.—press association. Dannevirke, April 14. An unusual fatality attended the building of a bridge over a stream on the main Napier road near Makatuku. While engaged yesterday afternoon stripping the casing' of a green concrete pillar, John Bell, of Whctukura, aged 21 years, met his death. The concrete broke and seven hundredweight fell on Bell, throwing him into the stream, crushing him against tho timbers of the foundation pillars, which crumbled and covered the body. The body has not been recovered. • John Brown, who was assisting Bell, had a narrow escape. An inquest will be held.
