ROYAL VISIT TO POPE
PROTESTANT APPEAL BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION. —OoPYBIOHT. (Rec. April 11. 7.25 p.m.) London, April 11. • What is described as a. great, Protestant appeal against) the proposed Royal visit to the Pope was made at a packed meeting in the Albert Hall, Lord Gisborough presiding. A resolution was passed: “That this great demonstration by loyal subjects of the Crown regards with serious apprehension and Vregret the announeemenit that the. King and Queen of England are to visit the Pope, respectfully and dutifully 'submits that as this, will be a source of great grief to millions of Their Maie.aties’ devoted subjects tho visit should be abandoned, appeals to tho Prime Minister to submit to the King the inadvisability of the visit, and calls upon the Government to Immediately withdraw the British envoy to the Vatican, seeing Wra't diplomatic relations with' the Pope are an friiigement of tho constitution and a grave menace to the welfare of this ■ Protestant Kingdom.”—Aus.-N.Z.
