FARMING INTERESTS SYDNEY ROYAL SHOW 9 STOCK NOT UP TO NEW ZEALAND STANDARDS. Sydney, April 11. Another New Zealander, Mr. D. Buchanan, the well-known Ayrshire cattle breeder, has expressed disappointment sit the quality of the Ayrfdnres and Friesians exhibited at the Royal Show. He considered them far below the New Zealand standards for these classes. Similarly, the draught horse exhibits were not comparable with what New Zealand could show, while the light horse breeds had deteriorated very considerably since he visited Australia twenty years ago, but New Zealand had nothing to crow about in this respect. Breeders seemed to be concentrating and producing an animal of far too light a type. New Zealand could learn a great deal from Sydney in show management.—Press jCssn.

ANOTHER 10001 b. COW FINE RECORD BY A FRIESIAN. The secretary of tike New Zealand Friesian Association reports that another Friesian cow has made the coveted figure of 10001 b. of. butterfat in one year, under official tost. This is the second occas on this year that a Friesian cow has readied the 10001 b. mark. The first one reported was “Alcartra Clothilda Pietie,” with 11451 b.. and now “Hilda Minto de Koi,” the property of Mr. C. H.. Steadman, of Whangarei, has given 27,773.81 b. of milk and 1046.311 b. of butter-fat.

Tb s great cow was bred in Quebec by Mr. J. S. Rutherford, and imported to this country by Mr. J. Clark, of Hamilton, and purchased by her present owner in 1915. The outstanding feature of the production of 10461 b, of butter-fat is that 'it is made by an animal whose age nt the commencement of the test was 12 yeurs 56 days, thus clearly demonstrating

the great clrfim made by Fr.'esian breeders of great production over long periods. Her average daily production of milk is 761 b., or 7.6 gallons, and the highest figure for one month was made in May last, when she gave 2973.91 b. of milk and 110.031 b. of butter-fat. For the last seven months of this period she was carrying a calf. The monthly productions are given hereunder —
