"COMPLAINANT UNABLE TO APPEAR.” "The complainant was injured as the result of the assault, and is.unable to appear in Court. She had a rib broken and has been under medical treatment.” These statements were made by Senior-Sergeant Lander in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday, when a mid-dle-aged labourer named Sydney William Arthur was. charged with breaking and entering the house of Maria Parkinson at Sage’s Lane with intent to-commit rape, and with assaulting Maria Parkinson so as to cause her actual bodily’harm. The senior-sergeant applied for a remand for a week, and requested that if bail were granted it be substantial. Messrs. R. D. Hanfon and R. J. Collins. J.P.’s, who were on the bench, granted the remand, but declined to fix bail
