PLAYING ROOM FOR THE PEOPLE
SPORTS BODIES TO DRAW UP REQUESTS
The Sports Protection League will convene on April 18 a meeting of representatives of various branches of sport to discuss the administration of city reserves and playing ajeas, and tho requirements of the sports bodies in the way of grounds. The object of the meeting is the preparation of a memorandum for candidates at the municipal elections. “The sports bodies have not made a ‘big push’ for a considerable time,” said Mr. R. W. Shallcrass, secretary of'the league, .to q Dominion representative yesterdayi “If they fail to make their requirements known, they may find one uav that it is quite beyond the capacity of the reserves to accommodate all who wish to play. Many municipal candidates are apt to .look on sports grounds as a sort of luxury, auite unimportant in comparison with many other things. The league, however, regards them as an absolute necessity.”
