At the Magistrate’s Court to-day, Evan John Thomas was fined £25, with tho alternative of three months’ imprisonment, for having sold a document signed “N. Lenin,” which Mr. Poynton, S.M., described as “one long screech against the social system, and an apneal to Communists to use force to overthrow it, thereby encouraging violence and lawlessness.” , In sentencing Thomas, Mr. Poynton quoted from the book, “Bourgeois Democracy and Proletariat Dictatorship,” and added “So our salvation is not to be by majority working through parliamentary institutions, but by assassination, confiscation, and torch, used in enmity. In my opinion the book is an inducement to, and an encouragement of. lawlessness.”
