FALL OF EARTH
MAN INJURED AT SILVERSTREAM. A marrried man, named John - Bennett, who resides at Upper Hutt, was seriously injured by a fall of _ earth yesterday afternoon, while working at the Sil verstream brickworks. Bennett was working alongside' a steam shovel, when earth fell, and a large piece of clay struck him in the region of the abdomen, lacerating him badly. The injured man was brought into the city by tho 6.45 p.m. train, and conveyed to the hospital, where an operation was performed. From inquiries made Into last evening, it was ascertained- that the operation had been successful, and that the patient was progressing satisfactorily.
